Glow Worm Tours

Welcome to without doubt the best Glow Worm viewing experience in New Zealand.

This Summer time tour (late October to late May. Other times by request) is available with pick-ups from your centrally located Dunedin accommodation or  the Octagon.

This tour is only at night and, due to changing hours of daylight, departure times will vary throughout the year, so you will need to call us to find out when departure times are.

Your  tour starts with an informative and fun tour of Dunedin city and its premier sites including Baldwin Street - The World's Steepest Street - before going on to the magical Glow Worms.

A short 10-15 minute minute walk through bush in the dark (torches are provided) takes us to where you will see unparalleled viewing of the Glow Worms in their natural habitat - threads and all.

Occassionally we will be lucky enough to see live Possums at play in the trees - This sure beats seeing them sprawled across the roads which is how most people visiting NZ view them!

Then we return you to your accommodation, via Highgate, and the spectacular views of Dunedin under lights.

Please wear suitable footwear and bring some warm clothing and a drink. A moderate level of fitness is required.

Bookings are essential as groups are strictly limited in size to maximise viewing pleasure.

These tours last approximately 2 hours and a minimum of 2 Adult fares is required.

Special tours are available by arrangement throughout the year.

Cost:  $35.00pp Adult
$20.00 per school aged child attending school

Email: glowworms@xtra.co.nz  for more information or to make a booking.

Tacky Tours

This Summer time tour (late October to May) is available with pick-ups from your centrally located Dunedin accommodation from 9.15am each morning.

This is Dunedin's most comprehensive tour of the city. It is a warts n all look at Dunedin from its earliest history right through to the present day,  with tales of "The Good, The Bad and The Rugby" (a drive past Carisbrook) included.

This tour is quirky, irreverrent and most certainly not for the faint hearted as we take in some spectacular scenery, some macabre and gruesome events and even include the soon to be famous "No Atheists Aboard Ride" - after all if our brakes fail on "officially" the worlds steepest street, Baldwin Street (Gradient 1: 2.86m), then everybody is going to be praying!!!

Hear why people in Dunedin must carry plastic bags when walking their dogs? (The answer will suprise you)

Look over "Farry's Folly".  Discover what is now being deposited in one of Dunedin's old banks. From Signal Hill to St Clair and the High Road we see it all.

See the sight of Dunedin's most infamous murder and hear inside knowledge of the Bain retrial. Intriguing!

This tour has been created to showcase Dunedin to those only in town for a short time as well as for those wanting to be entertained by Dunedin's prim and improper past.

Locals and tourists alike will learn something new. Go on - just do it!

If you have a warped sense of humour or a keen sense of the absurd this will most definitely be the tour for you. Wowsers need not apply.

This tour is 2 hours long and a minimum of 2 Adult fares is required.

Special tours are available by arrangement throughout the year.

Cost: $35.00pp Adult
